Nicki Minaj scores E! reality specials to air before her ‘American Idol’ judging debut

BY GINA SALAMONE

Those who can’t wait until January to catch Nicki Minaj on “American Idol” are in luck.

The Queens-born rapper will star in three reality specials on E!, beginning in November.

They’ll offer a peek into both her personal and professional lives.

Minaj previously let cameras into her life for the 2010 MTV documentary, “My Time Now.”

On the next season of “Idol,” she’ll join fellow newbies Mariah Carey and Keith Urban, along with Randy Jackson, at the judges’ table.

“It’s a milestone for me,” Minaj told MTV.com of “Idol.” “It’s a milestone for hip hop. It’s a milestone for young black women.

“Has there ever been a black woman [judging] on the show? This is a show that 20 million people watch, so I feel like we should be represented on that show and I’m very proud of my decision to do it.”
