Radio station powerhouse Cumulus has signed a definitive agreement to purchase WFME-FM, channel 94.7, from Family Stations, a nonprofit Christian organization based in Oakland, Calif. The move will give Cumulus a third station in New York City, alongside WABC 770 and WPLJ, 95.5.
It is not known what kind of programming the station will adopt or if it will carry established Cumulus talent like Rush Limbaugh.
The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2012, and the company will announce format plans for the station at that time.
