Russell Crowe shows off bulky frame, bushy beard on Brooklyn set of ‘Noah’

Russell Crowe showed off biceps of biblical proportions on the Brooklyn set of “Noah” Wednesday.

In full beard and gray tunic, it’s the first time the 48-year-old Oscar-winner was snapped in costume on the otherwise secretive set of director Darren Aronofsky’s Old Testament epic.

Crowe plays the titular hero, who is tasked by God to build an ark. Jennifer Connelly, who was photographed drapped in a long black coat to hide her costume from paparazzi lens, plays Noah’s wife, Naameh.

Joining Crowe in the cast of the film, set to sail into theaters on March 28, 2014, is Anthony Hopkins, Logan Lerman and Emma Watson - who was also in the scene shot in Brooklyn Wednesday.

Jennifer Connely was also on location as the movie shot scenes at the Marcy Avenue Armory.

Crowe has been enjoying his stay in New York City.

“11.5 km bike ride to work, glorious day,sun sparkling on the east river. 20 min weights,a superblast of 300+ reps,15 mins yoga/stretch,” he tweeted Thursday.

“Another beautiful morning in NYC. On yer bike !!!"

Russell Crowe has been tweeting that he’s enjoying his time filming in New York.

The notoriously intense actor could use the distraction of filming right now. Crowe has separated from his wife of nine years, Danielle Spencer, the Sydney Morning Herald reported Sunday.

Blame for the couple’s split has been pinned on Crowe’s busy work schedule. The New Zealand born, Australian raised actor has a pair of movies coming out this year - the martial arts adventure, “The Man With the Iron Fists” and the musical epic, “Les Miserables.”

The couple has two young children together, Charles,8, and Tennyson, 6 - who are staying in Syndey with their mother.

Total Film: The Modern Guide to The Movies Steven Spielberg considering Ben Whishaw for Robopocalypse

The casting rumours surrounding Steven Spielberg’s forthcoming sci-fi spectacular Robopocalypse are coming thick and fast, with Ben Whishaw the latest name supposedly on the Beard’s wish list.

The film is based on the book of the same name by Daniel H Wilson, which is set in a future where a malign artificial intelligence assumes control over a global network of machines that regulate everything from transportation to defence.

Spielberg is apparently keen on Whishaw to play the role of Lurker, a hacker who becomes key to the human resistance movement. Chris Hemsworth is already thought to be circling the male lead.

Meanwhile, Spielberg is also thought to be keen on Anne Hathaway to star opposite Hemsworth, with Deadline reporting that the actress is in early talks concerning the role. Sounds like box office potential to us.

Former Fox head honcho Tom Rothman has come on board as producer, while Drew Goddard has set about adapting the script from Wilson’s novel. Robopocalypse will open in the UK on 25 April 2014.
